Partner Focus: Mechanical Designer Back9 Design
One of our closest partners, Back9 Design was created to provide mechanical design and documentation services for its clients. Back9 Design is located in the Silicon Valley, and has a long list of both start-up and established company customers. Back9 Design has extensive experience in defining and designing product enclosures and sub-assemblies, testing fixtures and other needs of its customers. Successful designs include products in the telecommunication and networking, data storage medical, commercial, and audio/video markets. Designs have been taken from initial “napkin” concepts all the way through prototype and production builds. Back9 Design has extensive industry experience in the “start-up” environment so has vast experience with all facets of the product design cycle such as product documentation, component research and selection, PCB design interface, product compliance testing and production requirements. Because of this unique experience, Back9 Design can provide a total turnkey mechanical product design without tying up other internal or external resources, thus saving time and money for its clients.
Mechanical Design: Back9 Design has created designs that include sheet metal, plastic and casting approaches. Back9 Design uses the Solidworks 3D CAD software for product designs, but also has resources to support Pro-E designs if required. Other software packages used are AutoCad for 2D documentation needs, and Adobe Illustrator for graphic design requirements like labels and silkscreen artwork.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Back9 Design has access to resources to provide FEA on product designs.
Compliance Testing: Back9 Design has vast experience with most facets of the electronic industry compliance testing requirements (safety and emissions), both to North American and International standards. This also includes industry standards such as NEBS. Back9 Design has worked with most compliance labs such as UL, CSA, TUV and MET, and has worked extensively with Safety Engineering Laboratories (SEL), a Silicon Valley safety testing lab.
